Norway: Industrial production inches up in February

In February, industrial production expanded 0.4% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, coming above the 0.1% expansion recorded in January and marking the highest reading since September 2015. February’s reading reflected expansion in the electricity gas and steam as well as in manufacturing components of the index.

In annual terms, industrial production contracted 1.8%, marking a deterioration compared to the 0.2% contraction recorded in January. Moreover, annual average growth in industrial production fell from 0.7% in January to 0.4% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that industrial production will increase 1.3% in 2016, which is up 0.3 percentage points over the previous month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel expects that industrial production will increase 2.5%.
