Norway: Industrial production inches down in September

In September, industrial output expanded 1.6% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, which was slightly below the 1.7% increase tallied in August. September’s slowdown came amid sharp declines in the mining and quarrying sector as well as some manufacturing sectors.

On an annual basis, industrial production increased 2.0% in working-day adjusted terms, which marked a deceleration compared to the 3.1% increase tallied in August. Annual average growth in industrial production also slowed in September, sliding from August’s 3.3% increase to a 2.8% rise in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 0.4% in 2015, which is up 0.4 percentage points over the previous month’s estimate. In 2016, the panel sees industrial production climbing 1.2%, which is up 0.9 percentage points from last month’s projection.
