Norway: Industrial production contracts in October

In October, industrial output contracted 2.6% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, which contrasted the 1.4% increase tallied in September. October’s decrease was broad-based as all components of the index recorded decreases over the previous month.

On an annual basis, industrial production decreased 3.0% in working-day adjusted terms, which contrasted the 2.0% increase tallied in September. Annual average growth in industrial production slowed in October, sliding from September’s 2.8% increase to a 1.7% rise in October.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 0.1% in 2016, which is unchanged over the previous month’s estimate. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production climbing 1.3%, which is up 0.9 percentage points from last month’s projection.
