Nigeria: Inflation decelerates in September from August
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 18.0% on a year-on-year basis in September, following a 20.1% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were milder price pressures for food (+15.9% in annual terms vs +18.7% in August), clothing and footwear (+17.1% vs +18.5% in August) and housing and energy (+18.0% vs +19.0% in August).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices were up 19.1% in annual terms in September, following a 20.1% increase in the prior month.
Finally, consumer prices were up 0.72% in September on a month-on-month basis, following the prior month’s 0.74% reading .
