New Zealand: Consumer confidence stable in October

The ANZ-Roy Morgan consumer confidence indicator remained unchanged at September’s 85.4 in October. Therefore, the index remained entrenched below the 100-threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among consumers.

In October, households’ expectations of their financial situation in one year view remained stable and their assessments of their financial situation compared to the previous year was also unchanged.

FocusEconomics panelists project private consumption to grow 0.0% in 2023, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. They see it expanding 2.1% in 2024.
