Netherlands: Businesses still cautiously optimistic in June

June 24, 2014

The producer confidence indicator, which measures Dutch manufacturers’ sentiment, held steady at May’s 0.7 points in June according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). The index is still just above the 0-point threshold that separates optimistic from pessimistic sentiment.

According to the CBS, overall business confidence was unchanged due to the fact that businesses’ less pessimistic views regarding their order positions was offset by their less positive assessment regarding their stocks of finished products and future output.

For 2014, FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see fixed investment growing 4.8%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2015, the panel expects fixed investment to expand 3.1%.
