Netherlands: Business confidence remains in negative territory
January 25, 2013
In January, the seasonally adjusted producer confidence indicator elaborated by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) remained unchanged at December's minus 5.6 points, contrasting market expectations that had anticipated the index rising to minus 5.1 points. As a result, the index remains well below the 0-point threshold that separates optimistic from pessimistic sentiment.
According to the CBS, businesses were less pessimistic about their order positions and stocks. In addition, businesses seemed less pessimistic about future employment as well. On the other hand, manufacturers were slightly more pessimistic about production prospects in the next three months.
