Netherlands: Business confidence dips again in April
April 24, 2013
The seasonally adjusted producer confidence indicator elaborated by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) fell from minus 4.8 points in March to minus 5.6 points in April. As a result, the index remains well below the 0-point threshold that separates optimistic from pessimistic sentiment, where it has idled since June 2011.
According to the CBS, businesses were much more pessimistic about both their order position and the stocks of finished products compared to March. Nevertheless, they seemed less negative about their expected output levels.
For 2013, the panel sees fixed investment contracting 2.2%, which is down 0.9 percentage points from last month's Consensus. For 2014, the panel expects fixed investment to expand 1.7%.
