Mexico: Manufacturing and non-Manufacturing PMIs return to expansionary territory in February
The Mexican Institute of Financial Executives (IMEF) Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 50.9 in February from 48.6 in January. As such, the index moved above the 50-threshold that separates an improvement from a deterioration in business conditions from the previous month. The improvement was driven by expansions in new orders, production and employment, while inventories increased at a stronger clip.
Meanwhile, the non-Manufacturing PMI rose to 50.5 in February from 49.0 in January, also moving above the 50-threshold to indicate improving business conditions. The result reflected expansions in production and employment, while new orders growth accelerated.
