Mexico Consumer Confidence September 2022

Mexico: Consumer confidence increases but remains in negative territory in September

October 5, 2022

Consumer confidence rose to 41.0 in September from August's 40.9. Consequently, the index remained below the 50-point threshold, indicating sustained pessimism among consumers.

Consumers became more downbeat about their current and personal financial situation, but were more upbeat regarding the future general economic situation and their willingness to make major purchases.

Panelists participating in this month’s LatinFocus Consensus Forecast project private consumption to increase 2.9% in 2022, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast, and 1.6% in 2023.
