Malaysia: Growth in industrial production accelerates again in February

Industrial production increased 3.9% in February over the same month last year. The figure came in above the 3.3% increase tallied in January. February’s result showed an increase in all components, with the electrical component showing the strongest gains.

On a monthly basis, industrial production grew 0.9%, which was an improvement over January’s 0.5% increase. As a result, annual average growth in industrial production fell to 4.1% from January’s 4.2%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that industrial production will grow 3.8% in 2016, which is up 0.4 percentage points from last month’s projection. In 2017, the panel expects industrial output to expand 4.0%
