Lithuania Inflation November 2017

Lithuania: Inflation steady in November

December 11, 2017

Consumer prices in Lithuania increased 0.3% in November from the previous month, following October’s 0.2% increase. According to the Statistical Institute, the figure mostly reflected higher prices for fuels and lubricants, heating, milk and milk products, which more than offset lower prices for fruit and passenger transport by air.

Inflation came in at 4.4% in November, matching October’s reading. Meanwhile, harmonized inflation (based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, HICP) came in at 4.2% in November, also mirroring October’s result. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation rose from 3.3% in October to 3.6% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect harmonized inflation to reach 2.2% in 2018, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2019, the panel sees inflation accelerating to 2.4%.
