United States: Inflation steady in November

Consumer prices rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.19% in November over the previous month, picking up from October’s 0.04% increase. The increase was primarily due to rising prices for housing. In addition, prices for transportation increased, medical care costs fell at a more modest pace.

Inflation came in at 1.2% in November, which was virtually unchanged from October’s print. Meanwhile, annual average inflation ticked down to 1.3% in November (October: 1.4%). Core inflation rose to 1.7% from the previous month’s 1.6%.
