Lithuania: Inflation inches up in November

December 9, 2014

In November, consumer prices were flat over the previous month, which was below the 0.1% rise registered in October. According to the statistical institute, the result reflects that higher prices for housing and utilities, as well as for household equipment and maintenance were offset by lower prices for transport and communications.

Annual inflation inched up from 0.1% in October to 0.2% in November, which marked the highest level in four months. Meanwhile, annual HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) ticked up from 0.3% in October to 0.4% in November. Annual average HICP inflation held at 0.3% in November.

The Central Bank expects HICP inflation to average 0.4% in 2014 and 1.2% in 2015. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect harmonized inflation to average 0.2% in 2014, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. Next year, the panel sees inflation at 1.3%, which is also unchanged from last month’s forecast.
