Lithuania: Inflation edges down in February

Consumer prices ticked down 0.1% on a month-on-month basis in February, contrasting January’s 0.4% increase and marking the first contraction in six months. A breakdown of the sub-components showed that the result largely reflected lower prices for clothing and footwear, and transport, which more than offset higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and recreation and culture.

Inflation edged down to 2.8% in February from 3.0% in the first month of the year. Nevertheless, annual average inflation ticked up to 2.5% in February, from 2.4% in January. Lastly, harmonized inflation moderated from 3.0% in January to 2.8% in February.
