Lithuania: Inflation eases in April

Consumer prices rose 0.5% over the previous month in April, which followed the 1.0% increase seen in March. According to the statistical institute, the figure mainly reflected rising prices for food products, clothing and for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. In contrast, prices for housing, electricity, gas and other fuels tallied the largest drop.
In annual terms, inflation was 1.0% in April, which was below March’s 1.2%. Meanwhile, harmonized consumer prices (based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices) rose 0.8% in April, mirroring the figure observed in March. Annual average HICP prices fell 0.1% in April (March: -0.2% year-on-year).
