Lithuania: Industrial production continues to rise in February
March 23, 2012
In February, industrial production expanded 3.9% over the same month last year. The figure followed a 2.3% rise in January (previously reported: +4.0% year-on-year) and marked, in fact, the fastest pace recorded in five months. The improvement was broad-based, as three out of the four main sub-categories recorded gains over the previous month. A month-on-month comparison, however, does not corroborate the acceleration suggested by the annual figures, as industrial production fell 3.1% compared to the previous month (January: +3.6% month-on-month). Meanwhile, the trend continues to point downwards, with annual average growth in industrial production slowing from 6.3% in January to 5.6% in February.
