Lithuania: Industrial production accelerates in March

April 21, 2017

In March, Lithuania’s industrial production rose 5.8% from the same month last year, a significant acceleration from February’s revised 4.5% increase (previously reported: +3.7% year-on-year). According to the Statistical Institute, the result stemmed from faster output growth in manufacturing and mining and quarrying, which more than offset a contraction in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector.

The overall trend improved marginally in March, with annual average growth inching up to 3.2% from 3.1% in February.

Analysts surveyed by FocusEconomics expect industrial production to expand 3.6% in 2017, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2018, the panel expects industrial output growth of 3.9%.
