Lithuania: Industrial production accelerates further in January
February 22, 2017
In January, Lithuania’s industrial production rose a strong 11.5% from the same month last year, a notable improvement over December’s revised 7.0% increase (previously reported: +6.3% year-on-year). According to the Statistical Institute, the result stemmed from stronger output growth in manufacturing and a mild rebound in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities.
On a monthly basis, industrial production fell a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 2.1% in January, which contrasted the 1.1% increase in December. The overall trend improved in January, with annual average growth picking up to 3.2% from 2.9% in December.
