Lithuania: Industrial production decelerates in December

January 22, 2015

In December, industrial production expanded 3.8% over the same month of the previous year, which was below the 6.1% increase recorded in November. The moderation reflects slowdowns in all sectors, including manufacturing, mining and quarrying, as well as electricity, gas and steam.

On a sequential basis, industrial production decreased 2.9% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, coming in below the 2.0% decrease recorded in November and marking a four-month low. However, annual average growth in industrial production improved from minus 0.5% in November to plus 0.1% in December.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 4.0% in 2015, which is down 0.5 percentage points over last month’s estimate. For 2016, the panel expects industrial production to increase 4.8%.
