Lithuania: Industrial production accelerates markedly in October

November 23, 2015

In October, industrial production expanded a robust 5.1% over the same month last year, coming in well above September’s 0.3% expansion (previously reported: +0.2% year-on-year). October’s increase mainly reflected a notable rise in electricity, gas, and steam production as well as in manufacturing. Conversely, mining and quarrying was the only component that reported a contraction in October.

Industrial production increased 11.3% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, following the 2.3% decrease seen in September. Annual average growth in industrial production went up from 4.5% in September to 4.8% in October. October’s figure was the highest in two years.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.2% in 2015, which is unchanged over last month’s estimate. For 2016, the panel expects industrial production to increase 4.3%, which is also unchanged from last month’s estimate.
