Lithuania: Industrial production accelerates in November

December 22, 2014

In November, industrial production expanded 4.9% over the same month last year, which was above the revised 1.3% increase recorded in October (previously reported: +0.3% year-on-year). The result reflects solid growth in mining and quarrying, as well as in the electricity, gas and steam sector. In addition, the manufacturing sector accelerated in November compared to October.

On a sequential basis, industrial production decreased 2.0% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, which contrasted the 4.9% increase registered in October and marked a three-month low. However, annual average growth in industrial production improved from minus 1.3% in October to minus 0.6% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.5% in 2015, which is down 1.0 percentage points over last month’s estimate. For 2016, the panel expects industrial production to increase 5.3%.
