Lithuania: GDP picks up steam in Q4

According to the flash estimate released by the National Statistics Office on 29 January, GDP in Q4 rose 2.0% in annual terms. The reading represented an acceleration compared to the 1.7% increase tallied in Q3 and, if confirmed, will represent the strongest expansion since Q4 2014.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP inched up a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 0.5% in Q4, which matched Q3’s result. More detailed data will be released on 29 February.

The Central Bank expects GDP to grow 2.9% in 2016. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see the economy growing 3.0% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. In 2017, the panel expects GDP to expand 3.3%.
