Lithuania: GDP inches up in Q3

According to the flash estimate released by the National Statistics Office on 30 October, GDP in Q3 rose 1.8% in annual terms. The reading represented an acceleration compared to the 1.4% increase tallied in Q2 and, if confirmed, will represent the strongest expansion since Q3 2014.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP inched up a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 0.5% in Q3, which followed the 0.4% expansion observed in Q2. More detailed data will be released on 27 November.

The Central Bank expects GDP to grow 1.6% in 2015 and 3.2% in 2016. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see the economy growing 1.8% in 2015, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2016, the panel expects GDP to expand 3.0%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month’s forecast.
