Lithuania: Economic growth slows in Q2

July 30, 2015

According to the flash estimate released by the National Statistics Office on 30 July, GDP in Q2 rose 1.3% in annual terms. The reading represented a deceleration compared to the 1.6% increase registered in Q1 and, if confirmed, would represent the weakest expansion since Q3 2010.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP expanded a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 0.6% in Q2, contrasting the 0.5% expansion observed in Q1. More detailed data will be released on 28 August.

The Central Bank expects GDP to grow 2.7% in 2015 and 3.5% in 2016. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see the economy growing 2.7% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. In 2016, the panel expects GDP to expand 3.4%.
