Lithuania: Economic growth eases further in Q3

Lithuanian GDP expanded 1.7% in Q3 over the same period last year, down from a 1.9% increase in Q2, according to a flash estimate released by the National Statistics Office on 31 October.

A quarter-on-quarter comparison showed that GDP increased a seasonally and working-day adjusted 0.1% in Q3, which was down from Q2’s 0.4% rise. More detailed data will be released on 30 November.

The Central Bank expects GDP to grow 2.3% in 2016 before picking up and recording a 2.9% expansion in 2017. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see the economy growing 2.5% in 2016, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2017, the panel expects GDP to expand 2.9%, which is also down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
