Latvia: Industrial production eases in January
March 8, 2017
In January, industrial production grew 4.7% from the same month of last year, which followed December’s robust 11.5% reading. January’s expansion, the lowest in four months, was the result of gains made in the manufacturing and mining and quarrying sectors. Meanwhile, the electricity generation sector declined compared to December, but it was not enough to prevent January’s overall increase in industrial output.
In seasonally-adjusted terms, industrial production decreased 2.8% from the previous month in January (December: +0.1% month-on-month), marking the worst result since February 2013.
