Korea: Industrial production moderates in 2011
January 30, 2012
In December, industrial production expanded 2.8% over the same month the year before, which marked the slowest pace of expansion since September 2010. The reading was below both the 5.8% increase recorded in November (previously reported: +5.6% year-on-year) and market expectations of a 4.1% rise. Compared to the previous month, industrial production contracted a seasonally adjusted 0.95%, which followed a 0.27% contraction in November. For the full year 2011, industrial production increased 6.9%, which more than halved the strong 16.2% increase recorded in 2010.
