Kenya: Inflation jumps to over-one-year high in November

November 30, 2015

In November, consumer prices rose 0.52% over the previous month, which was marginally above the 0.50% increase observed in October. November’s result was mainly fueled by higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Inflation climbed from October’s 6.7% to 7.3% in November, which marked a third consecutive rise and the highest reading in over a year. Nevertheless, inflation still remained within the Central Bank’s inflation target range of 2.5 percentage points around its 5.0% target. Annual average inflation in November inched up from October’s 6.3% to 6.4%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 6.3% in 2015, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2016, the panel sees average inflation at 6.4%, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s Consensus.
