Kazakhstan: Inflation steady in December

Consumer prices rose 0.7% month-on-month in December, matching November’s print. Easing food prices from the previous month were broadly offset by rising prices for non-food items, according to the Statistical Institute.

Inflation logged 5.4% in December, also matching November’s print, while annual average inflation came in at 5.2%, again matching the previous month’s result as well.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2020 at 5.3%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. The panel expects inflation to end 2021 at 5.1%.
