Kazakhstan: Industrial production growth strengthens in June
July 15, 2015
Growth in Kazakhstan’s industrial output strengthened in June and increased 1.3% over the same month last year. The reading followed the 1.1% expansion registered in May and marked the fastest pace of expansion in the last four months.
The slight acceleration stemmed from a rebound in both manufacturing output (June: +0.9% year-on-year; May: -0.6% yoy) as well as electricity generation (June: +0.3% year-on-year; May: -1.1% yoy). Meanwhile, growth in mining and quarrying moderated over the previous month in June, while water supply continued to contract at a double-digit rate (-11.1% yoy).
The overall trend improved in June. The annual average growth in industrial production rose from May’s 0.3% to 0.7% in June.
