Italy: PMI moderates in June

July 1, 2015

The Markit/ADACI manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) moderated from 54.8 in May to 54.1 in June. Despite June’s slight deterioration, the index remains comfortably entrenched above the 50-threshold that separates expansion from contraction in the manufacturing sector.

June’s result reflected slower growth rates in output and new orders. Markit/ADACI commented, that, “output and new orders both rose robustly in June, albeit at slower rates than the recent peaks reached in May. Furthermore, job creation was maintained at a strong pace.”

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see fixed investment growing 0.1% in 2015, which is unchanged from the previous month’s estimate. For 2016, the panel expects fixed investment to increase 2.0%.
