Italy: Annual consumer prices grow steadily in June
July 2, 2015
According to preliminary estimates, consumer prices rose 0.1% in June over the previous month, mirroring May’s result. The reading was in line with market expectations. The steady growth mainly reflected that lower prices for services related to transport have been offset by higher prices for industrial goods. In annual terms, consumer prices increased 0.1% in June, mirroring May’s result as well.
Core consumer prices, which exclude more volatile categories such as unprocessed food and energy, grew 0.1% in June over the previous month, which was the same growth as in May. Core inflation also grew steadily in June, at May’s 0.6%. Finally, annual harmonized consumer prices rose 0.2% in June, which mirrored May’s reading.
