Italy: Industrial production stays flat in October
December 12, 2016
Industrial output in Italy remained entirely flat in October compared to the previous month, an improvement from the 0.8% fall registered in September but undershooting analysts’ expectations of a 0.2% increase. The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sub-sector expanded month-on-month, as did the quarrying and mining sub-sector. Meanwhile, the manufacturing sub-sector contracted in October compared to the prior month.
On an annual basis, industrial production expanded a working-day adjusted 1.3% in October, decelerating from September’s revised 1.9% growth. Annual average growth in industrial output also fell from 1.3% in September to 1.1% in October.
