Italy: Industrial production reaches a six-month-high in December
February 10, 2015
In December, industrial output rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.4% over the previous month, which was slightly above the 0.3% increase tallied in November. December’s result marked a six-month high and overshot the flat reading that the markets had expected. The result reflected expansions in all of the sectors that comprise the index. Manufacturing inched up in December compared to the previous month, while electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, as well as mining and quarrying rebounded from the contractions posted in November.
On an annual basis, industrial output increased a working-day adjusted 0.1%, which contrasted the 1.9% fall observed in November. As a result, annual average growth in industrial output ticked up from minus 0.8% in November to minus 0.7% in December.
