September 11, 2015
In July, industrial output rose a seasonally-adjusted 1.1% over the previous month, contrasting the 1.0% decrease tallied in June. July’s reading overshot market expectations of a 0.5% fall and marked the highest value in over a year. The result was driven by stronger expansions in all sectors, with electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning recording the most significant improvement.
On an annual basis, industrial production expanded a working-day adjusted 2.7% in July, contrasting the 0.3% decrease tallied in June. As a consequence, annual average growth in industrial output inched up from June’s minus 0.5% to minus 0.2% in July.
