Italy: Industrial production edges up in April
June 13, 2011
In April, industrial output expanded a seasonally adjusted 1.0% over the previous month. The reading marks an improvement compared to the 0.7% expansion recorded in March (previously reported: +0.4% month-on-month) and was well above market analyst expectations that had industrial output growing only 0.1% in April. Compared to the same month the previous year, industrial output rose 3.7% on a working-day adjusted basis, which was up from March's 3.4% year-on-year increase. Despite the improvement in annual figures, the trend moderated, with annual average growth in industrial production stepping down from 5.8% in March to a six-month low of 5.3%.
