Italy: Consumer confidence rebounds in July

July 27, 2016

The National Institute of Statistics’ (Istat) consumer confidence index increased from June’s 10-month low of 110.2 to 111.3 in July, beating market expectations of a 109.2 reading.

July’s result reflected an improvement in households’ assessments of their personal, current and future economic situations. Conversely, households’ valuation of the current and future general economic situation deteriorated.

Panelists expect private consumption to expand 1.2% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists see private consumption growing 0.9%.
