Italy: Consumer confidence increases in August
August 28, 2015
The National Institute of Statistics’ (Istat) consumer confidence index rose from 106.7 in July to 109.0 in August. The result overshot market expectations that the index would record a softer increase to 107.0.
August’s result reflected an increase in all the subcomponents that comprise the index. Consumers’ assessment regarding their personal economic situation, in particular, rose to the highest level since July 2011. Households were also significantly more optimistic regarding the country’s present and future economic situation.
