Italy: Consumer confidence inches up in September

In September, the index of consumer sentiment published by ISTAT inched up to 86.2 points from 86.1 in August, contrasting market expectations that had sentiment dropping to 86.0 points. Sentiment improved amid less pessimistic expectations regarding the general economy compared to the previous month. On the other hand, households' assessment on their own financial situation deteriorated compared to August, while prospects for purchases of durable goods rose compared to August.
