Italy Consumer Confidence April 2016

Italy: Consumer confidence decreases slightly in April

April 27, 2016

The National Institute of Statistics’ (Istat) consumer confidence index declined from a revised 114.9 in March (previously reported: 115.0) to 114.2 in April. The result was below market expectations of a slight increase to 115.0.

April’s result reflected a deterioration in households’ willingness to buy durable goods as well as in their assessment of the current general economic situation.

Panelists expect private consumption to expand 1.2% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists see private consumption growing 1.0%.
