Israel: Exports deteriorates in March

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), March exports totaled USD 4.5 billion, which was up from February’s USD 4.1 billion. The reading marked a 12.8% decrease over the same month of the previous year (February: -11.6% year-on-year).

Meanwhile, imports totaled USD 5.7 billion in March, which was up from the USD 5.4 billion seen in February. March’s reading was a 6.8% decrease year-on-year, which contrasted the 12.5% increase observed in the previous month.

The trade balance recorded a USD 1.2 billion shortfall in March, which matched the previous month’s figure.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect exports to contract 3.0% in 2016. For 2017, the panel expects exports to expand 4.5%.
