Israel: Exports contract more in June

In June, exports totaled USD 3.9 billion (May: USD 4.9 billion), according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). The reading marked a 12.2% contraction over the same month last year, which was a deterioration over the 11.0% decrease seen in the previous month.

Meanwhile, imports totaled USD 5.4 billion in June, which was above the USD 5.2 billion registered in May. June’s reading marked a 9.3% decrease year-on-year, which was an improvement over the 13.0% decrease observed in the previous month.

The trade balance recorded a USD 1.5 billion deficit in June, which matched the deficit seen in the same month last year. The figure was down from the USD 373 million shortfall observed in the previous month.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect exports to expand 4.4% in 2015 and 6.9% in 2016.
