Israel: Exports contract again in April

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), exports in April totaled USD 3.6 billion, which was down from March’s USD 4.6 billion. The reading marked a 11.0% decrease over the same month of the previous year (March: -11.7% year-on-year).

Meanwhile, imports totaled USD 4.5 billion in April, which was down from the USD 5.7 billion seen in March. April’s reading was a 2.6% decrease year-on-year, which followed the 3.8% decrease observed in the previous month.

The trade balance recorded a USD 1.0 billion shortfall in March, which came in slightly above the USD 1.1 billion deficit seen in March.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect exports to contract 3.0% in 2016. For 2017, the panel expects exports to expand 4.5%.
