Israel: Economic sentiment edges down in August

The business confidence index elaborated by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) came in at 18.2 in August, which was just below the previous month’s reading of 18.6 points and marked the lowest print in three months.

Moreover, the consumer confidence index decreased from minus 11.3 in July to minus 15.0 in August, remaining firmly entrenched in negative territory and marking a four-month low.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to contract 4.4% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel sees fixed investment growing 4.2%. Panelists expect private consumption to grow 4.1% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. The panel expects private consumption to grow 3.6% in 2017.
