Israel: Consumer confidence slips while business confidence is at record high in April

The consumer confidence index produced by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) slipped from minus 10.9 points in March to minus 12.3 points in April. The index remains firmly entrenched in negative territory.

The business confidence index came in at 23.1 points in April, above the 20.1 points reached in March, hitting a record high.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect private consumption to grow 4.4% in 2017, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s estimate. The panel expects private consumption to grow 3.9% in 2018. Panelists expect fixed investment to grow 4.8% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2018, the panel sees fixed investment growing 4.3%.
