Israel: Businesses less confident while consumer confidence improves in April

The business confidence index elaborated by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) fell from 2.5 in March to 0.5 in April. According to the CBS, April’s decrease was due to a deterioration in the majority of the sub-components that comprise the index.

Conversely, the consumer confidence index rose from minus 17.0 in March to minus 16.1 in April, thus reaching the highest value since October 2011.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 0.7% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees fixed investment growing 1.4%. Panelists expect private consumption to grow 2.6% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. The panel expects private consumption to grow 3.0% in 2016.
