Israel: Business confidence down, consumer confidence up in October

The business confidence index produced by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) came in at 18.4 in October, which was below the previous month’s reading of 19.2 points.

The consumer confidence index improved from minus 14.5 in September to minus 12.0 in October, yet it remained firmly entrenched in negative territory.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to grow 5.7% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel sees fixed investment growing 4.9%, which is also up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. Panelists expect private consumption to grow 5.0% in 2016, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month’s estimate. The panel expects private consumption to grow 4.1% in 2017, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
