Israel: Business and consumers more confident in January

The business confidence index elaborated by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) improved from 0.6 points in December to 1.2 points in January. According to the CBS, January’s rise was due to an improvement in the majority of the sub-components that comprise the index.

The consumer confidence index rose from minus 28.2 in December to minus 22.7 in January, thus reaching the highest level in eight months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 0.7% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees fixed investment growing 1.4%. Panelists expect private consumption to grow 2.6% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. The panel expects private consumption to grow 3.0% in 2016.
