Israel: Both businesses and consumers more confident in August

The business confidence index elaborated by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) rose from 2.0 in July to 3.8 in August. According to the CBS, August’s increase was due to an improvement in the majority of the sub-components that comprise the index.

In addition, the consumer confidence index increased from minus 19.8 in July to minus 17.8 in August.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 0.7% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees fixed investment growing 1.4%. Panelists expect private consumption to grow 2.6% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. The panel expects private consumption to grow 3.0% in 2016.
