Israel: Both businesses and consumers less confident in September

The business confidence index elaborated by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) dropped from 3.8 in August to 3.4 in September. According to the CBS, September’s decrease was due to a deterioration in the majority of the sub-components that comprise the index.

In addition, the consumer confidence index decreased from minus 17.8 in August to minus 22.0 in September, thus marking the lowest reading in four months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 0.7% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees fixed investment growing 1.4%. Panelists expect private consumption to grow 2.6% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. The panel expects private consumption to grow 3.0% in 2016.
